SOC Performing African Sanctus

Sheffield Oratorio Chorus has been at the forefront of classical mixed voice choral singing in South Yorkshire since 1948.

Our repertoire extends from the Renaissance to the present day with an emphasis on large scale choral works. Recent notable performances have included Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion”, Vaughan Williams’ “Sea Symphony”, Tippett’s “Child of Our Time” and Elgar’s “Dream of Gerontius”.

The choir has performed with world class soloists including Katerina Karnéus, Elizabeth Watts and Julian van Maelerts as well as some of the top orchestral ensembles in the North of England including the Manchester Camerata, Northern Chamber Orchestra and Skipton Camerata.

Our season comprises 4 concerts per year at various venues in Sheffield including Sheffield Cathedral and Ecclesall Parish Church.

As well as a main chorus we have a Chamber Choir which periodically performs smaller works.

We welcome new members in all voice parts. If you would like to find out more about take a look at the ‘Join Us’ page.
